Shot from last month’s Pikes Peak International Raceway’s
Time Attack event
.
This thing is like an inch bigger in each dimension than a Focus RS. It’s a friggin’ hot hatch.

Hmmm Yes, but only because porsche does wonders with handling.

Yep, exactly my reaction when all those Germans started protesting against SUVs based on a Macan killing several pedestrians. Horrible story, but not the best target of your anger.

2 plus tons doesn’t do it any favors, but yeah.

Um...I suppose “lik
e an inch” is open to interpretation?

The Ford Edge is only 4" longer and 4" taller than the Macan. It has the same HP as the 4-cyl Macan.
My rental car is basically a Porsche.

I was going to say, I’ve seen a Macan parked next to an RS and the RS is noticeably smaller.

Luxury is heavy.

Yeah my memory failed me on that one. It’s not all that much bigger, though.

It’s absolutely a hot hatch. Damn fun to drive.

I’d love to give one a go sometime!

Too tubb y to be a hot hatch. GLA45 is a hot hatch, not the Macan.

We’ve got a guy in our garage with one with some sort of aftermarket exhaust and it sounds super nice, (though he has the kinda goofy looking stock wheels.) They still seem awfully tall to me - Porsche needs to do a GTS version and drop it low.

Haven driven one, I would actually forget how high off the ground it was when I got out. The seating is so low, you feel like you’re in a hatch or car. Loved it.

No. A Focus is a large car for a hot hatch. Park that Porsche crossover next to it, and it dwarfs the Focus. The Porsche is too long, way too tall and also way too heavy to be considered a hot hatch. The current crop of 'fullsize' compact hatchbacks are already on the rather heavy side.
